Welcome to TanganTangan, a place where every meal tells a story rooted in the vibrant spirit of Guam. At the core of our culinary journey is the TanganTangan tree—known scientifically as Leucaena leucocephala—a resilient and versatile gift from nature that has shaped the land and culture of our island.
Originally native to Central America and the Caribbean, the TanganTangan tree found a home in Guam and the Pacific Islands, where it became more than just a plant—it became a symbol of harmony, sustainability, and community. Indigenous communities valued this fast-growing tree for its many uses: enriching the soil, providing vital shade for crops and livestock, and supporting land restoration efforts.
Inspired by this remarkable tree, we named our restaurant TanganTangan to honor its legacy. Just as the tree nurtures the land, we aim to nourish your senses by infusing our barbecue dishes with its distinctive essence. Each bite, smoked carefully with TanganTangan wood, offers an earthy, subtly sweet flavor that captures the spirit of our island—rich, resilient, and deeply connected to nature.
